Just finished a 1,200 sq ft Ipe rooftop deck in Brooklyn

Finally wrapped up a project I've been working on for the past 6 weeks. 1,200 sq ft of Ipe on a rooftop terrace in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Used a pedestal system over the existing membrane with hidden clip fasteners throughout.

The client went back and forth on Ipe vs composite but once they saw samples side by side it wasn't even a question. The grain on this batch was incredible.

Happy to share more details on the pedestal layout if anyone's curious. Drainage planning was the trickiest part by far.

1,200 sq ft on a rooftop is no joke. What was your approach for getting material up there? That's always my biggest headache on elevated jobs.

That sounds like an amazing project Tony! I'd love to hear more about the pedestal system you used. Was it a fixed-height or adjustable system? Rooftop drainage is always the make-or-break factor.

Beautiful work. I did a similar rooftop project in Manhattan last year — about 800 sq ft. The hidden clips were worth every penny on the final look. Did you end up oiling it or letting it silver?
