Moisture meters — pin type vs pinless for tropical hardwoods?

Need to buy a new moisture meter. My old pin-type Delmhorst is dying after 8 years of service. Thinking about going pinless this time for speed. Do pinless meters give accurate readings on dense tropical hardwoods? I know they can be finicky with exotic species. What are you guys using in the field?
