Anyone else finding the Sabre blade life disappointing on 5/4x6 Cumaru?

I’ve been running the 10-inch Diablo Steel Demon blades for my crosscuts on Cumaru framing lately, but I’m lucky to get through 150 linear feet before the teeth start grabbing. I’m currently on a 600-square-foot build in coastal humidity, and the density is just killing these tips faster than the usual Ipe. I’m usually meticulous with my feed rate, but it feels like the heat buildup is softening the bond before I’m even halfway through the stack. Is anyone finding better longevity with the Tenryu Gold Medal series, or is it worth the premium for a dedicated PCD blade? At $85 a pop for the Diablos, the margins on these sub-framing cuts are getting eaten up by consumables. Let me know what you guys are running for high-volume hardwood crosscutting without burning through your supply every three days.

I stopped running Diablo blades on Cumaru for the exact same reason. The heat soak in these dense exotics just torches those carbide tips way too fast. I made the jump to a Tenryu Gold Medal about two years ago and it’s a night and day difference—the edge retention is vastly superior for that specific fiber density. If you really want to stop burning money, grab a PCD-tipped blade like the Freud Diablo PCD series for the heavy lifting. The upfront cost is steep, but on a 600-square-foot build, it’ll pay for itself in blade swaps and clean cuts alone.

I hear you on the Cumaru headache. When I'm pushing through 5/4 stock, I ditched the thin-kerf blades entirely. They just vibrate too much in that density, which chips the carbide teeth prematurely. I switched over to the Forrest Woodworker II with a 30-tooth flat top grind. It’s a beast for dimensioning. Also, make sure you're using a dry-lubricant spray like Boeshield T-9 on the blade plate every dozen cuts. It kills that resin buildup and drops the operating temperature significantly. If you aren't fighting the friction, you won't kill the bond so fast.
