Client wants to leave Ipe unfinished — any concerns?

New client specifically wants the silver-gray weathered look on their Ipe deck. They don't want to deal with annual oiling. I've explained that the wood will be structurally fine unfinished, but I want to make sure I'm not missing any downsides beyond aesthetics. The deck is in Connecticut — full four-season exposure. Any issues with leaving Ipe completely unfinished long-term?
